Boat owners transporting people and goods to and from Garissa continue to make good profits even as People with disability complain that the government has excluded them. The government had banned private boats from operating the waters after an overloaded boat capsized on April 28 at Kona Punda as it ferried passengers across the flooded Garissa – Madogo road. At least 20 people died. The owners charge Ksh200 per person with each boat carrying a maximum of 12 passengers.
