The government has injected 1.7 billion shillings into the fishing sector under the blue economy ministry in a bid to spur economic growth among the fisher folk in the coast region. Speaking at the ASK showgrounds in Mombasa county, President Willian Ruto disclosed that the amount will benefit six hundred and twelve fishing groups in five counties along the coastal strip. The president also directed the blue economy ministry to purchase 25 deep-sea fishing boats in four months to boost the fishing expedition.The President has also called on the coast leaders to come together and work towards providing better services to the citizenry expressing confidence in his latest Cabinet appointees from the coast region Salim Mvurya and Hassan Joho .
