The government has suspended sand harvesting along the Tana River in Kindaruma sub location, Mbeere South, Embu County after a group of residents blocked the road leading to Kiambeere Dam on Monday. Mbeere South Deputy County Commissioner Jacob Mwaura who held a Baraza with the sand harvesters at Mutuovare Market was forced to suspend the sand harvesting after two Community based Organisations in the area clashed over the proceeds from the sand harvesting business blocking the road leading to Kiambere Dam. The leaders from the area called for calm, assuring them that the grievances surrounding the sand business and the rival Community Based Organisations were being addressed.
