The government has dropped the requirement for upfront payment for patients visiting hospitals under SHA and are unemployed. This was revealed by Medical services principal secretary Harry Kimutai who says the decision will allow for smoother implementation even as he disclosed they have set up a multi-sectoral committee comprising of National and County government officials to fastrack the process of addressing challenges in implementation of the health fund. At the same time he says, they have registered 13.3 million Kenyans on the platform and released 4.5 billion shillings to cater for medical bills under the program. Kasichana Masha with the details.
