Consolidation of state corporations and dissolution of moribund ones made the highlight of President William Rutos' first cabinet meeting of 2025 held today at the Kakamega state lodge. In a statement sent to newsrooms, the government says this is in line with streamlining its operations, reducing wastage, and curbing excesses in government spending. The reforms will see 42 state corporations with overlapping mandates merged into 20 entities. In the sweeping measures, nine state corporations including the Kenya Film Classification Board, Laps Set Corridor Development Authority, Kenya Fish Marketing Authority, and the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa will be dissolved and their functions transferred back to the parent ministry.
