The challenge of access to clean water in Vihiga and Kakamega counties has been eased following the commissioning of community water projects in the two devolved units. Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development Beatrice Askul commissioned a multimillion solarized community water project at Tsimbalo school in Sabatia, Vihiga County and another at Shihalia school in Ikolomani, Kakamega County courtesy of the Lake Basin Development Authority. She urged the respective county administrations to undertake a last-mile connectivity initiative to ensure the water is distributed to the over 14000 households targeted by the projects.
