Archaeologists from the National Museums of Kenya have identified a ship wreckage believed to have sunk in the Indian Ocean approximately 500 years ago off Ngomeni's shores in Kilifi County. The Archaeologists led by the head of coastal archaeology at the National Museums of Kenya Dr. Caesar Bita and partners who have been searching for the ship say they have discovered ancient objects used by the sailors including Pottery, Ivory, among others items that date back to around 1524. This discovery could pave the way for the establishment of the first marine museum in Kilifi county.
