    Environmentalists are calling upon Kenyans to embrace the culture of planting bamboo trees along riparian lands. They say the deep root system of bamboo makes it an effective tool for water conservation and control of soil erosion along the river lines.Speaking during a bamboo planting exercise along River Athi in Machakos county, the environmentalists, led by John Kakui, chairman of Kisaka Foundation Kenya, noted that bamboo trees are crucial in tackling the impacts of climate change as it plays a great role in reducing carbon footprints from the atmosphere among other benefits.
