The Kenya Wildlife Service in now raising the alarm in Seme, Kisumu County, where residents have increasingly turned to hunting and eating wild birds. KWS Manager Pauline Okode has raised concern over the declining population of the sacred ibis, warning that the trend could undermine conservation efforts and hurt tourism at Ndere Island National Park. But as Laura Otieno reports, residents say they have little choice, and with dwindling fish stocks, the ibis has become a readily available alternative on their plates.
