A section of key stakeholders in the energy sector are calling for reinstatement of gender mainstreaming indicators in performance contracting that were removed in the 2023/2024 financial year. The stakeholders said this would provide a road map towards implementing gender policies in the energy sector, ensuring equality in gender representation. They further called for sufficient budgetary allocation and capacity building to ensure equal gender representation. Meanwhile, the education sector has been challenged to promote STEM subjects among students from lower classes to balance out the numbers at the top.
