Court suspends controversial cybercrimes law amid growing public outcry

    The controversial Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Amendment Act 2025 has been temporarily suspended pending the hearing and determination of a petition challenging it. High court judge Lawrence Mugambi issued the conservatory orders on Wednesday afternoon as another petition challenging the amended laws was filed. The suspension of the enforcement of the law comes as religious leaders joined in the condemnation of the laws deemed oppressive and unconstitutional, as the government defended both the timing of the signing of the laws and the impact of the same on freedoms enjoyed by Kenyans
