The crypto mines bringing light to rural Africa - BBC Africa

A cryptocurrency company is planning to roll out mini-power plants to rural villages in Africa in order to bring electricity to remote parts and mine for Bitcoin. The company has already proven that a similar model works after installing Bitcoin generating mines to at 6 different renewable energy plants in 3 different countries. The project shows the potential benefits of the controversial energy hungry system that powers Bitcoin.
