The dam would supply water to residents in Maralal, Samburu

The Ministry of Water has assured residents of Maralal in Samburu County that the long-standing water scarcity in the region will be a thing of the past by the end of next year. This follows an inspection of the ongoing Yamo Dam project, with the government confirming the project is on track. Speaking while inspecting the Yamo Dam site in Samburu County, the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Water Eric Muuga expressed confidence in its progress. He assured residents the project is 20% complete and urged them to be patient. This comes as water shortage has been the biggest problem in Maralal town and its environs.
