The government has announced plans to begin compensating victims across the country, with the national treasury allocating 15 billion shillings to clear a backlog of over 16,000 claims that date back to 2014.in preparation, the State Department for wildlife and tourism has initiated a community wildlife compensation committee to kick start the long overdue process.
