Gov’t launches clinical guidelines to manage common mental health disorders

    42% of Kenyans seeking care in health facilities have symptoms of severe depression according to a 2021 study. Despite the high burden of mental health, Kenya has very low rates of mental health literacy among primary health care workers. This comes as the Ministry of Health launched the National Clinical Guidelines for the Management of Common Mental Health Disorders today and an e-training platform to equip healthcare workers to deal with the increased burden of mental health in the country.
