The government’s ambitious plan of raising the annual intake in the National Youth Service from 10,000 to 100,000 is at limbo due to financial constraints. Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi told the National Assembly Social Protection Committee that the National Youth Service requires 26 billion shillings to raise the number of recruits to at least 40,000 youths but the National Treasury had allocated 11 billion shillings.
