The number of criminal cases in Kenya has dropped for the first time in five years to below one hundred thousand, despite the figures still remaining high. Assault, theft, and drug-related offenses continue to dominate. Use of excessive force by police officers or their engaging in crime is also on the rise. The administration of justice report also shows that corruption in government institutions continues to undermine access to justice, especially in courts.
