The International Labor Organization is collaborating with the government of China to extend social protection to workers in the informal economies in Kenya and Lao PDR while leveraging digital transformation through south to south cooperation.The two year project with an allocation of 1 million dollars approximately 130 million shillings annually is expected to ensure more persons in the informal economies are on boarded in social protection. An estimated 16 million Kenyans are in the informal sector. Labor cabinet secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua is calling on those in the informal economies to register themselves with community bazed organizations to be incorporated in the project.
