The county government of Kisii in collaboration with the national government are set to crack down on peddlers of fake fertilizers. This was revealed during a joint meeting by representatives of two levels of government and county executive committee member for Agriculture and Fisheries Development docket, Elijah Obwori. Obwori expressed concerns over the emerging cases of distribution of fake fertilizer in the county. The CEC cited an incident at Suneka in Kisii South Sub County where two people were arrested in possession of adulterated government fertilizers meant for distribution to farmers. He cautioned farmers to refrain from buying fertilizers or uncertified seed from open air markets and source for the products from certified outlets.
