A long serving civic leader who was in office during the reign of the late Presidents Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi, in Ngara -Nairobi councillor Joseph Kariuki Mbuthia is dead. According to his family, Mbuthia died Sunday morning from cardiac arrest. The 87-year-old politician who was one of the top executive members of the KANU party was also a renowned businessman owning several hotels in Nairobi’s Ngara area. He will be buried on Saturday at his home in Karung’e village, Mathioya, Murang’a county.
