Counties in the Lake Victoria basin, central and North rift valley as well as those in the highlands, will continue to receive rainfall in February with stints of occasional dry spell, as the country heads towards the onset of long rains. The Kenya meteorological department in an early March to May forecast has placed the onset of the long rains in the last week of march and first week of April with the rains expected to subside in June. The distribution of rain mostly in counties considered to be the country’s food basket will range from poor to fair, as changes in climate continue to affect weather patterns.
