Families of deceased persons in Nairobi will soon be required to seek alternative burial sites in the neighbouring counties, as the Ministry of Health wants Lang’ata Cemetery closed. A task force appointed to assess the grave yard says the 100-acre cemetery was declared full 20 years ago, and its continued use poses serious health risk to Nairobi residents. The committee wants the burial of bodies in shallow graves on top of other bodies to cease with immediate effect.
