Wheat farmers in the country are up in arms over lack of a market for their produce. Earlier this week, frustrated farmers in Narok took to the streets in protest saying their harvest was lying in stores with little promise of making them money. At the heart of the crisis are allegations that powerful and well-connected farmers within government are manipulating the supply chain with cereal millers under instruction to prioritize their wheat over that of thousands of struggling farmers. An influx of imported wheat, allegedly brought in by some of the country’s elite, has further destabilized the market. Citizen TV’s Ben Kirui traversed the county of Narok and now takes a look at the situation.
