The Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands has assured horticultural farmers that the shift to sea freight from air freight will not translate to delays in shipping of products or change in market prices. In his inaugural address to the media, the new Netherlands Ambassador to Kenya, Henk Jan Bakker noted that sea freight is more cost effective and has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to air freight. Baker also acknowledged the good relationship between Kenya and Netherlands noting that his country is keen on building on this relationship.
