    Chadema Party's international Secretary, Deogratias Munishi, has told BBC's Waiha Mwaura continuing to announced the election results is fuelling anger among Tanzanians. He is also calling for the African Union to intervene in the matter. Tanzania's electoral commission has cleared 17 presidential candidates to stand this time, the main opposition party, Chadema, is barred with its leader, Tundu Lissu, currently on trial for treason. In a separate interview with the BBC, Tanzania's Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo has defended his government’s handling of post-election unrest and dismissed any figures of people killed or injured in the post election violence. He insisted that official data will only be released once investigations are complete.
