The Kajiado County Government has announced plans to repossess and re-allocate land from owners who have defaulted on their land rates in the county. Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, while addressing the County Assembly of Kajiado, said that the move is aimed at enhancing the county’s financial position, which will help implement various development projects across the region. He revealed that the county collected only 74 million shillings in Own Source Revenue for the 2023/2024 financial year, far below the target of 200 million shillings this year. The Members of the County Assembly have supported the move urging plot owners to pay up the land rates even as they called for dialogue before effecting the repossessing directives.
