Women have been challenged to take up opportunities existing within the East African Community market and venture into entrepreneurship. According to statistics, 1 in every 3 business ventures in the country is owned by a woman. But despite the growth, women still find it difficult to compete with male ventures due to a range of barriers, ranging from access to capital and lack of information on market availability to stiff competition from the male-dominated market.
