In an ongoing effort to eradicate Female Gentile Mutilation (FGM) in Migori County, leaders and activists are joining forces to address the harmful cultural practice that has long affected young girls in the Kuria region.
With the government’s backing, they are working tirelessly to educate communities on the dangers of circumcision and its negative impact on girls' health and prospects.
According to the Migori Chief Officer in Charge of the Gender and Culture Department, Prof. Rose Ogwang, many organisations, including local, national, and international organisations, are committed to addressing FGM, a deeply rooted regressive tradition, by helping Kuria girls pursue their educational careers.
