Kenya Ports Authority has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation with its ongoing “Mangrove Restoration for Ocean Protection and increased Forest Cover” initiative. Speaking at the Majoreni mangrove restoration site in Kwale County KPA, Acting Corporate Communication Manager Jones Buchere says the project is aimed at restoring and conserving mangrove ecosystems along Kenya’s coastal region. He further said the initiative was a collaborative effort with the Kenya Forest Service and various Community Forest Associations. According to Buchere, KPA has planted 10,000 mangrove seedlings as part of their restoration efforts since 2003.
