The State has indicated that the Ethnic Minorities and Marginalized Community Bill 2025 and Draft Policy on Minorities will create a framework that will guarantee protection of the rights of the minority and marginalized groups as enshrined in the constitution.
Director of Governance within the Minorities and Marginalized Affairs Unit (MMAU) in the Office of the President, Mr Abdi Kahiya said that despite the Constitution of Kenya 2010 recognizing these groups under Article 56, there currently exists no guiding legislation and policy to implement this Constitutional provision.
