Operations were briefly halted at the Juja weighbridge following a standoff between the Kiambu County Government waste collectors and officials from the Kenya National Highways Authority. This is after the collectors called for the release of a garbage truck that had been detained at the toll station for over three months for alleged nonpayment of parking fees. The authority on its part however maintained that it was not going to release truck until the devolved unit pays the outstanding fees that have amounted to 600 thousand shillings. It took the intervention of police officers to calm the situation to allow resumption of operations.
