Kenyans have been encouraged to visit health facilities for cancer screening checkups. Speaking in Mumbuni Machakos County at a cancer awareness event, Machakos Health county director Wanyaga Mwaniki said that with early screening, cancer could be easily detected and treated. He said through the regular cancer awareness sensitization conducted in the county, more than eighteen thousand people have been sensitized with over five thousand women screened for cervical cancer. Meanwhile, according to statistics conducted by the Ministry of Health, Machakos County has been ranked among the most severely hit by cancer cases.
