A section of youth leaders in the country is calling on the government to prioritize their inclusion in leadership positions within the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Speaking under the Kenya Youth Organization banner, the group reminded President William Ruto of his campaign pledge to involve young people in leadership, as well as his assurances during last year's protests. However, they now accuse him of reneging on this promise.

The youth leaders revealed that nearly 200 young applicants had expressed interest in joining the IEBC selection panel, but none were shortlisted.

They have warned that if their demands for representation are not addressed, they are prepared to return to the streets and resume protests. __
