The Ministry of Interior has announced the release of five chiefs who were abducted two months ago by suspected Al-Shabaab militants in Mandera County. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed that the chiefs have been freed from captivity and will soon reunite with their families. Their release comes after joint efforts by the national government, the Mandera County government, and the local community.
