Malaria epidemic threshold in Kakamega placed at 30% in November and December

    A malaria epidemic early warning prediction report for the Western Highlands of Kenya , shows that there is high risk of Malaria Epidemic in Kakamega in November and December 2025. The report that covered Kakamega, Kisii and Nandi Counties places the epidemic threshold level in Kakamega at 30%.The analysis based on observed climate data and model simulations that estimate the percentage risk of malaria transmission, also shows that Kisii and Nandi present no risk for the same period. The malaria epidemic threshold level in Kisii and Nandi has been placed at 20% respectively. The report was made public by the Kenya Meteorological Department reflects data and predictions as of August 2025.
