Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is warning that the importation of duty-free rice could cripple local farmers as harvesting gets underway in the Mwea Irrigation Scheme.The Governor, who delivered her State of the County Address at the Kirinyaga County Assembly on Tuesday, said the ongoing importation of white rice is flooding the market and suppressing prices, putting at risk the livelihoods of thousands of farmers who depend on the crop.
