4 in every ten Kenyans experienced incidents of police abuse of power between March 2022 and March 2024. In a report published by the International Justice Mission, respondents reported cases of corruption, police harassment, and wrongful detention as some of the suffering at the hands of the police. At the same time, criminal justice sector players, including the independent policing oversight authority, are committed to ensuring better handling of complaints against the police.
