Several residents living in the Kangonde area on the outskirts of Embu town have been forced to seek refuge in neighbors ‘houses to escape the ongoing rains that have seen about 25 homesteads uninhabitable. The heavy downpour has left residents vulnerable to waterborne diseases. The ongoing heavy downpour and its aftermath at the Kangonde area on the outskirts of Embu town. Crops haven’t been spared either.The concerned residents say they fear contracting waterborne diseases as the flood water is mixed with sewerage. The county disaster management committee is further being urged to consider opening a channel that will drain water to a nearby wetland.
