Courts I Manda Island residents apply to Millimani Law Courts to join a land dispute in Lamu

Over 2000 residents of Manda Island in Lamu County have applied to the Millimani Law Courts to join a land dispute over 1000 acres in Lamu Manda. The residents through their Lawyer Danstan Omari, claim rightful ownership and are seeking to overturn orders protecting businessman Alex Githinji. The residents accused Goodson Nine Limited and Goodson Fifty-Three Limited of colluding to unlawfully take over their land. Githinji however insists he lawfully purchased the land from one Abdillahi Farh Haji following an official search. The court is set to determine whether to enjoin the residents and review the orders issued in favour of Githinji.
