The Ministry of Health has today inaugurated the NHIF Pending Claims Verification Committee to address the backlog of unpaid medical bills by the defunct NHIF. The committee, led by James Masiero Ojee, is tasked with undertaking an audit to verify all the claims submitted under the defunct NHIF and ensuring that only legitimate claims from healthcare providers are processed for payment. Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has warned that the committee members will take personal responsibility for any claims that will be fraudulently paid. The verification process will be completed within 90 days , with the committee expected to formulate a payment plan.
