Parents across the country have been urged to uphold child protection during the just commenced holidays ahead of the Christmas festive season. Speaking in Suneka town in Kisii South sub-county, Kisii county after an academic day to celebrate Wema Mid-Valley Preparatory School pupils' transmission to the next grade, School Director Dr. George Masagara noted that the holiday was the longest this year, with 12 weeks. The Director who is also a counseling psychologist said the holiday is bound to be the busiest for not only households but also for the nation which is still mourning the death of the former prime minister and ODM leader Raila Odinga. Dr. Masagara expressed concern over possible failure by parents to closely monitor their children, exposing them to all forms of abuse including sexual molestation, domestic violence, drugs of addiction and other triggers of mental illnesses.
