A family in Limunga village, Nyahururu Sub County, Laikipia County, is pleading for the help of skilled divers to retrieve the body of a 41 year old man who drowned while fishing in a local dam. The man, identified as Mbugua Kiarie, met his death on Monday afternoon, while setting up fishing nets in a dam he had frequented for years. The residents say the search for Mbugua Kiarie’s body has turned into a tense and exhausting effort, with villagers spending days and nights trying to recover him. They note that the tragedy has once again exposed the County’s lack of professional emergency response teams, expressing outrage over what they call neglect by the county government.Kelvin Mundui a self trained diver urged the county to empower and employ local divers to ensure faster response in future tragedies.
