The County Government of Kirinyaga has announced a major upgrade to renal care services at Kerugoya County Referral to address current crisis occasioned by breakdown of critical equipment. The county says 10 new dialysis machines will arrive this week, to replace aging equipment. The transition is part of a broader effort to expand access to specialized healthcare under Universal Health Coverage. In the interim, dialysis patients have been referred to alternative facilities, with all treatment costs fully covered under the Social Health Authority SHA.
