The state department for housing and urban development has officially handed over the newly constructed Esise market to the Nyamira county government, which will now oversee allocation of spaces to traders.
the market, which connects traders from the food-rich areas of Esise, Kahawa, and Nyansiongo, will offer a clean and organized space for selling goods. during the handover, secretary administration Hiram kahiro said the facility is part of the government’s efforts to empower small-scale traders. his remarks were echoed by mary Ndung’u, the director for slum upgrading, who noted that the market includes modern features like a cold room and improved sanitation.
