Over 4,000 families displaced as Lake Naivasha floods worsen

The number of families displaced by the swelling waters of Lake Naivasha has risen to over 4,000, with fears that the situation could worsen as heavy rains continue. Local leaders are now urging the government to declare the flooding a national disaster, saying the humanitarian crisis is deepening by the day. The Nakuru County government has begun offering transport to help poor and vulnerable families relocate to safer areas as the lake’s water levels continue to rise, submerging homes, schools, churches, and even a police post.
