A Non-Governmental Organisation in Kuria, Migori County has cautioned parents who subjected their girls to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) that they risk losing out on education bursaries. During the issuance of the cheques to guardians at Kehancha Deputy County Commissioner’s office, the Kirira Foundation partner Omahe Mwita said noted that girls continue to face challenges of FGM that has become a hindrance in pursuing their education dreams. Sentiments echoed by the Kuria West Deputy County Commissioner Andrew Mwiti, who added that a section of girls who undergo FGM later drop out of school to get married.
