Civil Society Organizations in Coast region are now urging Kwale County Government to allocate funds in the budget to support implementation of the Gender Violence Law passed in 2023. The Kwale women Focus Initiative, leading a non-profit organization, claims that the law has not been implemented effectively due to lack of funding in the county's budget, while cases of sexual violence continue to increase. The rights advocate emphasizes there is a need for both the national and county governments to collaborate in the building of laboratories to assist victims of abuse, and safe centers to help victims of sexual abuse in areas of Lungalunga and Kinango, where there are increasing number of sexual violences.
