A potential solution to the looming food shortage may soon be within reach. If the ongoing fertilizer subsidy program delivers as planned, Kenya could see a significant boost in food production. The government is optimistic that the growing demand for subsidized fertilizer across the country is a clear sign that the program has a positive impact and that farmers are fully embracing the initiative. Currently, over 180,000 bags of fertilizer are being utilized daily upon arrival—a challenge that Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has described as a “happy problem.”
