Kenya has phased out over 70.8 million tonnes of Ozone Depleting Substance according to the Ozone secretariat. While marking the World Ozone Day, the Ministry of Environment affirmed the Government's commitment to the 1987 Montreal protocol and the Kigali Amendment, in ensuring compliance with obligations to phase out HydroChloroFluoroCarbons (HCFS) and on course to meet the 67.5% reduction target by 2025.
