Four serving and former Nyamira County government officers have been arraigned in court over allegations of unlawful staff appointments and forgery of official documents. The officers, arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), face charges relating to the misuse of their authority within the Department of Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Social Services between June and November 2016. Appearing before Nyamira Chief Magistrate Bernard Ochieng, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, which also include uttering false documents. They were released on bail with a cash bond of 200,000 shillings or an alternative surety of 500,000 shillings. The case will be mentioned again on March 7, 2025.
